JOY: Simon Pegg
Simon Pegg is my Joy simply for the fact he is a really good comedic actor, most famous for roles in the Cornetto trilogy (Shaun Of The Dead, Hot Fuzz, At World’s End). Even in later roles like his minor role as Hughy’s dad in Amazon’s “The Boys' ' are basically comedic. While the writing in those films might have been done by a different person, it’s his acting and general chemistry with the cast that sells him as my Joy.
SADNESS: Keanu Reeves
Keanu Reeves might stand out as an odd choice but it simply has to do with his background away from acting. It’s not widely known that he hosts a long tragic history as events like his father leaving him in childhood shaped him into the humble soft spoken actor he is today. Besides his father abandoning him, he would lose a stillborn daughter, his close friend, and even his ex-wife to a car accident. These harrowing events often plague the back of my mind when I watch him in movies like John Wick, Bill & Ted, amongst others and make it almost hard to imagine how he is still relatively stable as a human being.
FEAR: Mads Mikkelsen
A relative unknown, at least in name, Mads Mikkelsen is a danish actor known for his roles in Casino Royale, Doctor Strange, and Artic. He is widely known for playing the villain in most of his well known roles and inspires a certain energy when he acts. From Le Chiffre in James Bond: Casino Royale to Hannibal in Hannibal (redundant I know), his sheer aura radiates a sophisticated intimidation. Could be his looks but his movements really bring it home as little things like his thousand yard stare to the way he subtly shifts his eye makes him my Fear.
ANGER: Jon Bernthal
For Anger I would choose Jon Bernthal simply for his role as Frank Castle in Netflix’s “The Punisher”. In that role he would play a disgruntled army vet trying to escape from his cycle of violence but inevitably being reeled back in as he faces near mongolian hordes of criminals in the underbelly of New York. To combat this he relies on sheer skill and ruthlessness exemplified by his carnal battle cries as he brutally bashes, slashes, and disembowels his enemies.
DISGUST: Andrew Zimmern
For my disgust I really dug deep and found a relative unknown, unless you're like me and browse network television when you were younger, Andrew Zimmerman known as the host of the show Bizarre foods. Like the name, the food he covers on the show is truly something else from maggot cheese to a beating snake's heart in a shot glass of vodka, this show is not for the squeamish. What makes it worse is you watch him ingest these vile morsels even when he clearly is showing resistance to the very idea, but that's why they pay him so down it goes no matter how utterly repugnant it may be, so I see no better person for my Disgust.
Your take on Andrew Zimmern is quite relatable from a personal standpoint. Unlike most people today who make mukbangs of them eating nasty foods, Andrew Zimmern has been eating nasty foods before it was popular. Plus he's more iconic and memorable, as he's been across the globe, trying many meals that made me go "Eww.." as a kid, and even now. It always made "kid me" wonder what gross foods he'll be eating in his next episode of "Bizarre Foods with Andrew Zimmern."
ReplyDeleteI love the choice of Mads Mikkelsen, he does a very good job of presenting himself in a scary way, his very deadpan stare and face make it impossible to tell what he’s thinking, he also plays villains very, and with his role in the new Fantasical Beasts movie, I think we will be seeing a lot more of what makes him such a good actor to play villains.
