JOY: Sasha Braus
When I think of joy, I think of laughter, smiling, and motivating. To represent my joy, I of course had to choose Sasha. Sasha is simply a kind and caring girl. From an early age, she has always expressed her genuine love for many things and has adapted for those enjoyments. Similar to me, she is able to express her joy in a positive light, bringing happiness to those who surround her. Sasha is notorious for being determined and passionate about getting things done and will use the skills shes developed in order to help everyone, like her fellow Scouts, to the best of her ability.
SADNESS: Reiner Braun
Sadness is a very broad term, but in my head, it captures a feeling or hurt and regret. Despite being “strong and joyful” in everyone else’s eyes, Reiner definitely shoulders the most internal angst. I feel as though Reiner encapsulates my sadness almost in a metaphorical sense. He didn’t grow up with the best situation, but bent his emotion in order to appeal to everyone else who surrounded him. Reiner created a facade for himself so that he could still help everyone to the best of his ability. His fellow soldiers and townspeople recognized him as someone who is stoic and emotionally reliable, when in reality he felt quite the opposite.
FEAR: Jean Kirstein
Fear is an emotion that not many people want to express. Its an internalized shock that hits you and can be difficult to shake. When I fear something, it takes EVERYTHING to shake me from it, and yet I can hide that feeling very well. Just as I do, Jean seems like he is invincible , but in reality he is the most scared and vulnerable in the entire Scout Regiment. On missions, he was always nervous for what was to come and would expect the worst, but masked that and continued on worriedly, like me.
ANGER: Eren Yeager
Anger, an emotion that can front and become completely dominant, unable to be changed by anything else. When I’m angry, you will know. Nothing but me will fix that feeling. From an early age, Eren has been motivated to work in order to get revenge for his prior anger and pain. For years on end, he has been pushed to get revenge for his past and his true emotions came. His desire for revenge and doing “what is right” took over his life and his anger with the world is the only thing that really shows. Nothing was able to shake his feeling.
DISGUST: Levi Ackerman
Low work ethic, loose hair on a mirror, someone cutting me off while I drive, I’m grossed out. I can find disgust in so many simple things, sadly, just like Levi. To put it simply, Levi finds almost everything surrounding him disgusting to some extent. He is a clean freak, despises things if they are even remotely bad, and expects only the best out of the Scouts and anyone in the Military. While he is able to mask this internal urge in public with passersby’s and kind Samaritans during times of distress, he will always have a nagging emotion of finding things nearly revolting. Of course he expresses his utter disgust for those who he’s fine with showing, but he covers it all up easily. This, is so, me.

Though I haven't caught up to the current episodes of Attack on Titan (I've only watched one and a half seasons), I found your post very interesting to read. I can't relate my own sense of sadness to Reiner's since I haven't seen much of him, but I totally agree with you for the other four characters. You did a great job portraying each characters emotions and connecting them to your own!
ReplyDeleteI don’t watch anime, but your descriptions of the characters in your post make Attack on Titan sound entertaining. I’ll consider watching the series. I really like what you said for JOY, because even though I don’t know you, it does appear that you put a smile on everyone’s face from what I’ve seen. You sound really energetic and colorful! About your DISGUST paragraph, I really like the way you started off with concise examples. It developed a frantic effect. I can also relate to you in finding some of the simplest things disgusting.
ReplyDeleteThe voices you chose I think fit perfectly, I haven’t caught up to the current AOT adaptation but blitzed through the manga so I’m not entirely sure if anything has changed. Overall though based on prior knowledge of these characters, it really does fit well and the way you described them is spot on. +10 points on the images as well too, especially Eren, because that image was so good when I got to it.
