JOY: Jack Black
Jack Black has voiced many different characters throughout his acting career, ranging from movies to video games, but mainly his Po character from Kung-Fu Panda is a prime example of how much joy he put into his character, and how he wanted the large panda to express himself, even though pandas in reality are usually lazy.. Beyond his acting career, he’s displayed as a really chill and funny guy, very fit for Joy.
SADNESS: Tyrese Gibson
Tyrese Gibson is mainly known for his parts in the “Fast and Furious” movies and his R&B music career that no one really talks about or knows. His strong emotions in the “Fast and Furious” movies made me consider listing him as fear since he was always screaming, but there’s a meme of him crying on the phone about his battle for his daughter’s custody and him feeling like he’s not doing enough, which is why he is listed as Sadness. Also his R&B songs or Rhythm and Blues songs really shows how little joy the overall messages of them are.
FEAR: Justin Roiland
Justin Roiland can be quite the multiple trick pony. Mainly known for voicing Rick and Morty from “Rick and Morty” , he also has voiced Lemongrab from “Adventure Time” and has used that high-pitched voice of his in many shows and cartoons he was featured in. Considering how both Morty and Lemongrab revolve around the premise of screaming, Morty because he’s scared of everything Rick presents him and the choices he makes, and Lemongrab just because it’s in the character’s nature, it would make sense for him to be put as Fear.
ANGER: J.K. Simmons
J.K Simmons has been all around, from that one lion mayor from “Zootopia”, the “Spider-Man” movies starring Tobey Maguire, the “Farmers” commercials, Omni-Man from “Invincible”, and so on, J.K Simmons has voiced them all. When switching to an angry mood as part of his character, Simmons always draws so much emotion from the very few words he’s presented to say. But most come from where he has to give speeches or long phrases, making the listeners or viewers feel like they’re being told off by their parents. Henceforth, he fits the glove for voicing Anger.
DISGUST: Clancy Brown
An odd choice indeed, the voice of Mr. Krabs as Disgust you may be wondering, but don’t forget his Detective Hank character from the popular PS4 game “Detroit: Become Human.” In there, Clancy Brown does a wonderful job of conveying Detective Hank’s disgust for the newer generation of technology and having to cooperate with said technology, through his acting. If we were to focus on his Mr. Krabs character, he would’ve been joy or anger, but his voice has always made me think of disgust as I believe most of his strong emotions in acting came from this PS4 game, which mainly consist of Hank showing disgust towards his android partner, Connor.
All these voices you picked are all great. Having watched the original Spider-Mans a lot, the JK Simmons one absolutely hit me. It's perfect for the anger voice, especially when he gets upset and has to raise his voice. Including all the different ways how your celebrities are that emotion given truly shows the real connection the voices have with their respective emotions given. And lastly, the image you chose of Tyrese Gibson is hilarious.
ReplyDeleteI love the choice of Justin Roiland as fear is great, all I can imagine is him running around screaming his head off the way he does as Morty or Lemongrab, I can already hear the unacceptable in my head as I’m writing about it.
