Back in the day I really liked an anime called Beyblade. I used to watch it every day after school and also play with the physical toy while watching. This series was called Beyblade Metal Fusion and it is one of the best series from the franchise. The next series with the same characters is called Metal Masters which was a little bit boring since most of the episodes were tournament-type battles, whereas the Metal Fusion had a better story that had included a villain. The toys themselves were pretty good. The series ended unfortunately because the viewers were declining. The thing with the shows was that there were sometimes humorous scenes and also some scary scenes. The sound effects feel very real and the art that the animators made was really nice.
This series and the toy plus the characters make a very nostalgic experience. There were two different toys that were being sold. One brand was called Takara Tomy which was sold in Japan and then there was another one called Hasbro which was basically sold everywhere. They were basically the same beys just somewhat the same names as the original Japanese had different translations. I remember bringing the toy to my school and showing it off to my friends. It was a great time back then. Those toys that I had, I actually sold them back in middle school to get money for the newer Beyblades. I sold all my Beys, launchers, and a couple stadiums to a little kid for $40. I kinda regret that decision now that I think about it.

In my 9th blog, I listed Beyblade as one of the shows I watched on Cartoon Network. And I can relate a lot to how the show made you feel .Of course that was when mainstream shows and cable was still popular, a completely different time from now. Thinking about it now makes me think that I’m out of touch or out of time, where I felt I’ve lived in an era but can barely remember what I did then. But I think it’s knowing that you got to experience that time is worth something.
ReplyDeleteYour blog really threw me back to when I played with Beyblades as a kid. I didn’t know there was a TV series the toy was based off of since I didn’t watch any TV at the time. The only experience I had with Beyblade was the toys, and that was already enough to feel some nostalgia while reading your post.
ReplyDeleteThis takes me back, beyblades were like THE TOY when I was younger. I never did watch the anime but the toys were the bomb. Don’t fret too much over selling your beyblades though, no point in regretting something you can’t change now, right? Just be happy with the memories you have, plus you could always buy them later on.
